Hi Emma

Thanks for the questions!
1) Reiki adapts itself to the individual and moves at the pace you can handle. Some people like to do a detox and get into the spirit of a major life change. I haven't actually met anyone who has done this, but I expect that it enhances your sensitivity to the attunement process. Similarly if you haven't been meditation and would like to start, you're likely to get a head start with your peace of mind and spiritual sensitivity. That said, most people simply come with the intention to be open to Reiki, to change their life for the better and to embark on a bit of an adventure. Reiki is all about life and rediscovering how to live as your true self. It's a lifelong journey of discovery, not one you're going to complete in a week, so just being open to the concept of your highest good is the best thing for preparing.
2) Similarly, the length of time between Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 depends on the person and where you are in life. I've had students who did the two in a weekend, as I did, because life was essentially fine but they wanted to get on with the tools in Reiki 2. Others want to take their time to get to know the energy, or perhaps they have old issues that they need to clear out more gradually. Reiki is all about listening to your intuition and doing what's right for you, so ask yourself and see what you feel. Because the Reiki 2 course entails casework which is likely to take a couple of months, so even if you chose to do the two courses in a weekend, you would be relatively experienced by the time you went out in the world to use your new skills.
3) The casework involves self-treatments, in-person treatments for others, distant treatments for others and/or issues, receiving treatments for yourself, and using a crystal grid for a month to send Reiki to many things and/or people, plus practising the meditation that the founder of Reiki taught his students.

Hope that gives you a good flavour of the courses. Any more questions, just ask. :)

Love and light

Hi There,

I am a Mum of 2 young children, a wife and a qualified Children's Nurse. I currently work part time and do not wish to increase my hours in an employed environment. I would like the flexibility of self employment to fit in with my family life. For a while I have been thinking of training in Reiki and Reflexology with the intention to offer these treatments to paying clients.

I would also like to use these new skills to benefit my own lifestyle as will as my friends and family if and when requires.

On reading about the courses that you offer I have a few questions.

1. What preparation do you recommended prior to going on your Reiki 1 course?
2. How long after completing the Reiki1 course should you wait before undertaking the Reiki 2 course?
3. What is expected of casework?

Many Thanks

How fun to hear that the message is reaching you too! :) I think it can take a bit of reminding for us to have fun even though it's an obvious thing to want, so great to have fun echoing about!. :)

Wow sabrina,
I loved reading this. It was incredibly refreshing and uplifting. It's an inspiring thought to focus on fun and so true; after all fun brings laughter and joy - exactly what the spirit seeks (and our physical bodies and minds!), especially in these changing times.
And as only 2 nights ago, my Angel cards were encouraging me to approach work with an attitude of 'Have fun!' and they were all centred around allowing the spirit to thrive, I take your motivating words as a reminder of this.
Thanks and Blessings

Hi Lorain

Doing your Master training would open up your energy channel more widely and give you stronger tools to use, and thus more capacity for that stronger flow of healing. Reminds me of a central healing boiler I just got fixed that was struggling on a lower wattage. The new one is a lot stronger so only has to be on briefly to have the same effect, so uses a lot less energy. :) You might also look at doing Hatsu Rei Ho meditations, like we do at the Japanese Meditation Hour, which cleans and builds up your energy. Would you like to do the Master's course I'm running at the beginning of December? Reiki share this Sunday if you'd like to chat about it and try the Hatsu Rei Ho and a Reiju empowerment, which also boosts your energy a bit. :)
Love and light,
Sabrina
