Reiki stories

While it’s important to know what my experience of Reiki and its potential is, it’s more exciting to read about the impact it’s had on students’ lives – in their own words.  We’ll be adding more stories over time, but we’d like to share Fiona’s story with you first.  Enjoy…!

Fiona Kyle’s Reiki story

What was life like before you discovered Reiki?

Before I discovered Reiki, life was good. I have a loving family, great friends and enjoyed working for a company who I had been working with for nearly a decade, but still it felt as if something was missing from my life.

What led you to Reiki and how did you get involved?

I have always been a sensitive and spiritual person and I have always been seeking for answers. I could always sense energy around people and sense the energy when I walked into a room. Then my husband had a car crash in late 2009 and went to physiotherapy and for acupuncture and was amazed how the acupuncturist was able to know where to put the needles by hovering his hands above the body.  When my husband told me the acupuncturist could feel heat while hovering above his body I said I could feel ‘heat pockets’ and feel heat from my hands but thought everyone could. After this I decided to do some research and went on a few energy workshops which resulted in energy flowing out of my hands without being attuned. I used to blow light bulbs and interfere with the internet and baby monitors etc so I decided to research Reiki and wanted to become attuned.  I came across Light on the Path and felt a connection and knew that I found  the Reiki Master for me! So then it all began…

What did you like about Reiki?

What’s not to like? Reiki is so flexible you can use it in so many ways. I loved the fact you can use it on yourself to develop and grow, I loved that I could give Reiki treatments to others to help them become empowered, I loved that I could send it to situations, people, events… the list is endless.

How have you used it?

I used it to empower myself and get to know myself that bit more. I used Reiki to help me follow my dreams and have the courage to leave a job after a decade and set up my own business offering Reiki and pregnancy and children’s yoga (during a recession I may add!)  I also attuned my husband Mark to Reiki which has been wonderful for the whole family and plan to teach Reiki to my two daughters and my niece.  I send it distantly to people I know or for others who request it as well as doing Reiki treatments on family, friends, ex-colleagues and clients. I even used it to help me pass my driving test 1st time in May!

What impact has it had on your life and how has that unfolded so far?

Reiki has changed my life – it was like a missing piece of the jigsaw. I have gone through my own healing and still am to some point but I feel like I can see life clearly – sometimes there may be fog, but it soon lifts and the path ahead is clear once more.  I trust my own inner authority now more than ever and know that I can co-create my life to feel peace, love balance, hope and joy (with bumps along the way I may add!)

What aspirations or plans do you have for the future?

I have loads of plans! I use Reiki to try and focus my thirst for life as I now see endless opportunities and doorways in front of me. Firstly I want to focus on developing myself so that I can be an example of the positive change I want to see in the world.  Then expand my business (or life’s purpose) in yoga and healing and build a house in the country! I have set wheels in motion for all of them and look forward to watching it all come together.

Any recommendations for others considering trying Reiki?

Try it! Go for a Reiki treatment with an open mind and open heart and let the blessings begin to manifest in your life! My 3 year old daughter turned to me one day while I was giving her Reiki on her knee after a fall and said “Mummy I love Reiki – it is so hard and soft” I smiled and thought, Exactly! Sometimes Reiki has to help us bring things to the surface that we perceive as being “hard” or difficult in order to help us heal and let go of what is holding us back in life. What we receive is a more balanced and “soft” life full of endless possibilities and light.
